LIFE BE-WoodEN Final Conference

The LIFE BE-WoodEN Final Conference, held in Brussels on 3 December, brought together policymakers, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss how wooden construction and bio-based materials can help reduce embodied carbon, particularly in the field of social housing.

The conference featured a high-level panel on Advancing Wood in Social Housing, addressing skills, policy challenges, and the New European Bauhaus approach. Discussions highlighted both the growing interest in timber construction across Europe and the need for stronger policy support, training, and awareness to scale up sustainable wood-based solutions.

The event concluded with the presentation of LIFE BE-WoodEN project results and the Innovation Challenge Award Ceremony, celebrating the winning team for its proposal to redesign common spaces in social housing through sustainable, inclusive, and NEB-aligned design principles.
