Topic 2: Green and circular buildings

The second batch of Webinars - led by ART-ER  partner with the contribution of University of Primorska and University of Genoa - is focused on green and circular buildings, aiming to enhance understanding of sustainable construction. Key areas include environmental impacts, circularity in the construction sector and the utilisation of wood and end-of-waste and bio-based materials in architectural design and construction.

The discussion encompasses several topics, such as sustainability in building materials, building Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and certifications, restorative environmental and ergonomic design, wood design and innovation in the building sector. The webinar will also delve into GPP (Green Public Procurement) legislation and best practices and in the application of Minimum Environmental Criteria in the wood supply chain.

The session explores the interconnections among material selection, design choices, ICT tools, and AI-supported technologies, emphasising their impact on occupant health in terms of stress, air quality, cognition, ergonomics/activity, and ageing.

Participants in the Innovation Labs (WP4) are selected on the basis of the assessment results targeted to all Participants.

Main topics:

  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and eco-design in building sector
  • Introduction and insights about Green Public Procurement (GPP)
  • Engineered living materials for architecture
  • Restorative environmental and ergonomic design
  • Wood construction and architectural design
  • Wood construction and challenges of innovation in the building sector
  • Comfort of the users through acoustics
