Sustainability and Competitiveness in the Wood Supply Chain in Emilia-Romagna

On March 20, 2025, Bologna hosted the event “Sostenibilità e competitività nella filiera del legno in Emilia-Romagna”. The event provided a key opportunity for professionals to discuss strategies, innovations, and opportunities to make the forest-wood supply chain more resilient and competitive.

Key topics addressed during the event included:

  • The role of the National Forestry Information System in Italy’s national forestry strategy
  • Regional policies supporting the forest-wood supply chain in Emilia-Romagna
  • The use of structural wood and the potential of short supply chains in construction
  • The LIFE BE-WoodEN project, which promotes sustainability in construction in line with the New European Bauhaus

The event concluded with a roundtable discussion on the sector's future, aiming to define strategies to combine environmental sustainability, innovation, and competitiveness.

 

Toolkit for the Valorization of Environmental Performances in the Wood Supply Chain

The objective of this toolkit is to provide wood supply chain operators a roadmap of tool categories aimed at enhancing the environmental performance associated with the use of wood in construction.

The Toolkit is primarily aimed at stakeholders in the wood supply chain, but it may also be useful for professionals and public officers.
