On 12 November, the first session of the Women for Circular Furniture Conference Cycle, organized under the Erasmus+ CirCLER project, was held online and provided an important opportunity to celebrate leadership, gender equality, and sustainability within the furniture industry.
Marta Casanova presented the LIFE Be-WoodEN project – Building and Education in Wood Ecosystem for the New European Bauhaus, illustrating how design, education, and innovation can work together to create a more circular and inclusive future for the sector. She highlighted that in the self-construction workshop in Imperia, 68% of participants were women, a remarkable figure considering that women are severely underrepresented in the wood-furniture industry.
The webinar also included presentations of key European initiatives and tools aimed at fostering gender equality, circularity, and skills development across the furniture and construction sectors.
