Innovation Lab

The Innovation Lab in Genoa, titled Innovating Housing with a NEB Approach, has just concluded successfully. The event, held on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, brought together experts and professionals to discuss innovative approaches to housing sustainability, inclusivity, and beauty.
The day kicked off with an introduction to Be-WoodEN, where Giovanna Franco (University of Genoa) and Laura Muraglia (Regione Liguria) explored how the NEB (New European Bauhaus) can revolutionize housing design. Following this, the NEB: A Framework for a Sustainable, Beautiful, and Inclusive Future session featured talks by:

  • Tomaso Boyer (Itinerari Paralleli) – NEB: values and working principles
  • Adriano Magliocco (UniGE) – Formal and aesthetic quality of materials (wood)
  • Margherita Marinelli (Housing Europe) – Innovating housing: perspectives from the EU
  • Tom Lindsley (ACTstudio) – NEB and architecture: a perspective from Ireland

The afternoon session focused on a Matching Workshop, where interdisciplinary groups were formed to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions for the future of housing.

This event provided valuable insights and fostered meaningful connections towards a more sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful approach to housing. The next step in this journey will be the Hackathon on March 6-7, 2025, in Imperia, where the teams will continue to explore solutions for transforming the social housing of A.R.T.E.
